I recently had the absolute honor of capturing Austin and Sierra’s engagement photos in the dreamy fields under Mount Si of North Bend, Washington, and every frame felt like a still from a nostalgic, filmy romance.
There’s something timeless about the way fog clings to the mountains in the spingtime, the way the grass sways just enough to catch the light—but not enough to break the stillness. This was the scene we stepped into with Sierra and Austin. Their connection is effortlessly genuine, the kind that doesn’t need to be posed or prompted. Just two people, completely present with each other, surrounded by the wild beauty of the PNW.
The Vision: Moody Meets Filmy
We intentionally leaned into a moody aesthetic—rich shadows, subtle tones, and that natural, Pacific Northwest vibe. I love how these kinds of sessions feel like flipping through a roll of 35mm film. Nothing too polished or over-posed. Just real, raw love captured in a way that feels cinematic and heartfelt.
Austin and Sierra trusted me fully with the vision, and we took our time wandering through the tall grass, soaking in the quiet and letting the story unfold organically. Their chemistry, paired with the landscape and some light rainfall, made it feel like we were documenting a scene from their own indie romance film.
Why Mount Si?
The Mount Si fields are one of my favorite places for an engagement shoot in Washington. Located just outside of North Bend, this area has that quintessential Pacific Northwest mood: soft light, towering mountain views, and endless open fields that make you feel like you’ve stumbled into a secret place. It’s especially perfect for couples who want their session to feel personal, peaceful, and deeply connected to nature.
